Rant
.
I can't keep my mouth shut any longer. What The Fuck does Israel think they're doing?!
They say they have no wish to invade Lebanon. (even though Israel has sent troops across the border to "attack Hezbollah". No... they're not invading; they're just crossing the border for a while) They say they have no problems with the Lebanese government. They say they're leaving the Lebanese infrastructure in place. And they say they're being mindful of civilians.

Yet the first thing Israel did was bomb the airports. Then the hit the roads, bridges, and bunkers that may or may not hold Hezbollah leaders. They still don't know if they hit their targets, but they know they've killed civilians -civilians from multiple countries, to boot.

Now I'm not saying Hezbollah is in any way innocent. They've been firing missiles and killing Israeli civilians too. But Israel is saying that "Hezbollah and their patrons" should pay for the reconstruction of Lebanon. Um. Really? How do they figure that? Hezbollah and their patrons aren't bombing Lebanese airports etc.

Mind you, Lebanon has been reasonably free of Syrian control for LESS THAN A YEAR. They've been TRYING to deal with the Hezbollah problem. Lebanon is a soveriegn nation and Israel has no business bombing their bridges, roads, homes, ports, airports and people.

This conflict started practically without warning, and there are tourist and visitors from countries around the world who can't fly out of Lebanon. They can't leave by Lebanese ships either, because Israel is blockading the waterways. Which leads to my next bit of ranting...

Canada. France. England. Ireland. And many other countries are evacuating their citizens as fast as they possibly can. America has (8 days into the bombing) begun to "relocate" OUR citizens. The government has told the media not to use the word "evacuation" in reference to U.S. citizens being removed from Lebanon. I guess that means they're not "refugees" when they're taking refuge in Cypress -the country they're being relocated to until they can get back to the U.S.

This is the biggest piece of bullshit since the hurricane Katrina fiasco. And like after Katrina, Bush is doing absolutely nothing about it.
Well, ok... he did one thing. He voted against the UN resolution to stop Israel and order a cease-fire. He was the only holdout.

God, he's such a shitbiscuit.

Thank you for that rant. It's precisely how I feel about the situation.

Oooh. I totally and wholeheartedly disagree. This isn’t like our country going into Iraq. Israel did not begin this….I believe Hezbollah waited and chose their timing carefully. Notice that Israel’s soldiers weren’t picked off while Sharon was still in power. You know why? Sharon would have personally slashed their throats. He’s a freaking’ psycho, and would have gone after them with twice the might. Why did Hezbollah do this???? Maybe you can ask a few of their cells sitting in the grand ole US of A….

But saying that Israel has no right to do this is like saying we had no right to bomb Afghanistan when they were just as helpful in tracking down Al Queda and Osama Bin Laden. Just because Hezbollah chooses to place their missiles in civilian regions, that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t get wiped out. If GW Bush came and asked to hide some missiles in my house, you bet I’d be packing. Israel did not start this, they have given up a great deal and their homes all for the sake of peace. They have every right to defend themselves.

bigMomma Amy, my very good friend; you make good points. And I disagree.
You're right, Hezbollah chose their timing and Israel did not start this. Hezbollah has been attacking Israel for a long time and taking two Israeli soldiers was further insult.

But there's a difference. The United States, Israel and Afghanistan are/were all capable of removing Al Qaeda or Hezbolla respectively. Lebanon is not. They don't have the military power to get rid of Hezbollah. Also, we gave Afghanistan warning. Lots of warning. Immediately after 9/11 we told them "get rid of Al Qaeda or we will get rid of them"
We gave them a few weeks, while we went to the UN and let them know we'd be bombing certain areas of Afghanistan if the Afghan government didn't make Al Qaeda leave.

Of course, we also said we would leave the Afghani government alone; we were just removing a threat to our country. *snort*
I'm still not sure what happened there. One day we were bombing training camps and caves, and the next day the Taliban government was fleeing and our soldiers were chasing and killing them.

I also feel that Israel is following a trail of breadcrumbs laid down by Syria and Iran. This is exactly what those two countries want. And apparantly, it's what the U.S. wants, too. Which I find outrageous.

Israel could have asked for NATO to get involved. They could have given warning.

Although, Israel is better than the U.S. in one respect. There are specific times when they hold their fire in order to let civilians evacuate. The U.S. doesn't give Afghanistan and Iraqi citizens that courtesey.

I totally disagree to. I think Israel figures that the USA can't stop them from makeing their boarders safe once and for all and they are tired tired tired of the years and years of these people sending over death squads. I think most people here in the USA do not understand how voliently Israel has been attacked and harmed for the past 40yrs with a worsening in the last 5. School buses filled with kids get blown up.... think about that..... while I was there someone put a bomb in the childrens day care center as a toy.. think about that... every single day of that. No I think Israel is just plan sick of the USA leash makeing them eat their deaths and make them stand down again and again while their people died. And the UN did NOTHING. They didn't even care. I think Israel is in the right.
